Student Support Services

Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded TRIO grant program. It was established to assist students in overcoming barriers to their success in higher education and to increase college retention, graduation, and transfer rates. SSS offers various academic, transfer, financial aid, and career services.

Northwest-Shoals Community College has a SSS office on both the Shoals and Phil Campbell campuses. The SSS office on the Shoals campus is located in Building 110, Room 102. The SSS office on the Phil Campbell campus is located in Building 307, Room 26.

Our Mission

The Student Support Services program provides opportunities for academic development, assists students with basic college requirements, and serves to motivate students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education. Student Support Services (SSS) also provides grant aid to current SSS participants who are receiving Federal Pell Grants. The goal of SSS is to increase the college retention, transfer, and graduation rates of its participants and help students make the transition from one level of higher education to the next.
